Ilosone

ilosoneIlosone is a prescription for treating infections of the bacteria. It is also given for bacterial endocarditis and rheumatic fever.

The drug should only be taken as per your doctor’s direction. Ilosone should be taken with meals to avoid stomach upset. It is advised to swallow the drug whole and not to crush break or chew it. Even if you feel better after taking some dosages, do not stop in the middle. If you want to get rid of the infection completely, take the whole course. There are chances of the infection to relapse if the medication is stopped in the middle.

Before your doctor prescribes Ilosone, tell him about all your health history so that he can take an appropriate decision on the prescriptions. Do not hide from your doctor if you have any heart problems and liver or kidney problems.

As Ilosone is known to interact with other medicines, better inform your doctor about all the medications that you are taking. If you develop stomach pain, bloody stools and diarrhea, call your physician immediately.

The effects of the drug during pregnancy are not yet known. Even then you have to discuss with your doctor about all the risks and benefits of taking the drug during pregnancy. Breast-feeding should have to be stopped while taking Ilosone as the drug is seen in breast milk.

When taking Ilosone, you should never miss your doctor’s appointments and lab tests. You should have to go for regular check ups to monitor your kidney/liver functions and blood cell counts.
